Mothers day

mothers day

awoke to another beauty day on Railay. We relaxed on our balcony with coffee in hand reminiscing about past mothers days.
Our sand sea resort offers a buffet breakfast with fresh fruit and omelettes.

We spent our afternoon enjoying Railay west beach, swimming and gazing up at the limestone rocks.

Curiosity got the best of us as we wanted to see what lay around the rock, so we rented a three person kayak and set out for our own adventure. The three of us paddled around a couple amazing limestone rocks and were mesmerized by the beautiful contrast from the water to the rocks. We noticed a pretty white bird on a nest up on the rock. It noticed us as well as it swooped down at us and made another swoop at us from behind!  An hour went by quickly out on the kayak.

Back at "our pool" we swam and read. Our bungalow has a pool behind it which is not nearly as busy as the main pool.   We watched a few crazy monkeys swinging from tree to tree eating leaves. They move fast and jump on roofs making quite a racket on these tin roofs. We are told they not actually called monkeys, -similar looking but with white rings around the eyes and the mouth. They eat plants and are much more friendly.

We ventured over to the East side of Railay where we found an afternoon special of chicken, potatoes or rice and grape sauce. Kristen had salmon. What a perfect Mother's Day meal as we listened and watched Pit Bull music videos in the background.

Carried on down the beach where we found a pretty good speaking Thai tour agent. C and K booked a rock climbing adventure for tomorrow morning. No 7 elevens to be found here but a little mini mart allowed us to find our usual staples for our bungalow fridge.

The sunsets here are one of a kind, travellers line the beach with drink in hand and their cameras, to watch another day come to an end. The sunset was really beautiful as it lit the sky in shades of orange, pink and purple.
Immediately following the sunset, it began to pour rain. Everyone scattered

Back to our little bungalow to play cards on the deck and rub aloe Vera on our backs and chest. A perfect Mother's Day. Just missing Jordan, but ironically we actually saw a young fellow that looked a lot like him from the side and back.

Thailand offers a variety of beaches. Koh phangan had soft white sand with clear blue water. Railay offers limestone rock with water that has a green colour. The tide here is very noticeable. High tide, the water covers all of the beach, leaving little room to drop your sarong. Low tide, the locals use tractors on the beach to transport people out to the boats. (We just looked on the map and realized that maybe the tide is different because we on the Andaman Sea)
