Relaxing on Railay

Booked our boat trip to Koh Phi Phi. A 1.5 hour ride from here at Railey. Lingered over breakfast and walked along Railey west beach. Back to our bungalow we packed for a beach day at the newly discovered Pranang Beach. Once at this beach we discovered it was high tide and there was very little beach for us and the 700 Asians (tour boats dropping off tourists)to sit on!  We set up camp to swim but as the tide got higher the water crept closer and closer to our towels until we had to move again. No choice but to set up almost in the "lingham" cave or as we Canadians would call it the Penis cave! :) as per our last day blog.

The princess cave is an important shrine for local fisherman. Legend has it that a royal barge carrying an Indian princess foundered in a storm during the third century BC. The spirit of the drowned princess came to inhabit the cave granting favours to all who came to pay respect. Locals place carved wooden penises in the cave as offerings in the hope that the spirit will provide plenty of fish to the fisherman.
We saw penises of every size, ranging from a pencil size to a fence post. All colours too. Lol

A group were climbing there as well. Tour boats were dropping people off so that there was just a steady stream of tourists heading thru the water to this one little area of beach. We packed up and headed to our favourite happy restaurant for the lunch special and this time watched Katie perry music videos.

Very full we headed back to our pool for swimming, book and R and R time. The sky darkened so quickly that we barely had time to get back to our bungalow before the rain began. Monkeys or whatever those white ringed eye ones are called get swinging this time of day so between the rain and them the coconuts kept crashing down. We were attempting to make our way to our bungalow from the front desk all the while keeping our eyes up watching for branches or coconuts falling. We have a protective roof over our deck so were relieved to make it back safely.

Packed up a bit and headed out to watch yet another beautiful sunset. Shared a small pizza at a restaurant where we found cocktails 2 for one. Back to pack it in for the night and get a good sleep before our next adventure.
